Cheerios' new Birthday Cake cereal

Box of Cheerios Birthday Cake cereal limited edition

For America's 250th anniversary, also known as the Unites States Semiquincentennial, Cheerios is releasing a Birthday Cake flavor. The new, limited-edition cereal comes in a red, white, and blue box adorned with fireworks and imagery of the new sprinkle-filled Cheerios.

Cheerios' new Birthday Cake cereal tastes like vanilla cake and features red, white, and blue sprinkles, which are not made with artificial coloring as part of the brand's initiative to remove all FD&C dyes from cereals by this summer. The Birthday Cake Cheerios are gluten-free and boast 21 grams of whole grain and 12 essential vitamins and minerals per serving.

The new birthday cake-flavored O's are being released at grocery stores nationwide this summer. General Mills says they will be on shelves in June, but it's possible you'll find them a tad earlier as summer products start to trickle in.

Cheerios Birthday Cake cereal will only be available for a limited time, but it's just enough to keep the 250th anniversary party going all summer long.

Re: Cheerios' new Birthday Cake cereal

Interesting. Based on the description, I'm guessing these are the same as the recently released Confetti Cheerios, just with different coloring and packaging. The Confetti version has a decent vanilla taste—my sister and I thought it was sort of like the Lucky Charms oat pieces since they end up having a hint of vanilla after sitting in milk with the dehydrated marshmallows.
