Celery Root: first for me

Alberti posted a stew receipe and one of the ingredients was celery root. I had never cooked with this. I even had to look it up to see what it looked like so to locate it in the store. Ha Ha

 

Frankly, I could not tell it from the parsnips. 

 

The stew base was tasty and could be adapted with one's own favorite ingredients.

My Ma used to make celery root.......You could SMELL it cooking two blocks away.    UGH.   It is pungent..........

@granddi Talk about firsts -- I tried white asparagus over the weekend and it was awful.  Followed a recipe from All Recipes, too.  No taste at all.  I'll be sticking to the green variety.
