Carnation Malted Milk Powder?

[ Edited ]

Is it sweet or do you have to put sugar or other sweetener in it?

Do you put milk in it or just water?

Is it any good?

Thanks.Smiley Happy

I use it in the blender when making milkshakes. It gives it a malt flavor. I've never used it any other way, &, yes, it's good.

@Pqfan, what a wonderful childhood memory I have! Add it to ice cream for malted milk, or enjoy in a glass of ice cold milk! It is sweet, and can be used in all kinds of treats.

I can't have it anymore, but if you have no blood sugar issues, enjoy!

I have never had Horlick's: it's the malted milk equivalent in the UK, but available here. Many people have told me it's not as sweet.

Does it have a lot of sugar? I have known many people that love to drink that.

@Poodlepet2- This is going back about 40 years but I have a childhood friend who's mom used to buy Horlick's malted milk "tablets" for lack of a better word. They were similar in texture to Tums.

I recall the first few times I tired them, I dd not like them. My friend always had them in her house and since she'd eat them for a snack I'd end up having some too and the taste really grew on me.

This thread is making want to go out and buy some sort of malted milk stuff!

It does not taste good if you put in just milk. You have to have like it in a shake or mix a flavor in it . (like chocolate syrup)

Re: Carnation Malted Milk Powder?

I just found this in a local store and let me tell you I was soooooo excited!!  I can't explain the taste, but my grandparents used to take me to an old restaurant with chocolate malts and fountain cokes. I'm not sure if it's an acquired taste, but I'm sure you can look up the right ratio to ice cream for you.  It's not the same as a milk shake, but better. But of course that's just a personal opinion.  I hope you enjoy!

I am 56, but growing up, malts were everywhere-does anybody remember soda fountains in drug stores????

If you like Carnation Malt, another treat you would love are Whoppers! Crush them up in ice cream and milk....or use them as an ice cream topping. Enjoy!
