I don't believe I have bought a can of frosting.......... I always make mine from scratch....do you buy canned or make yourself.
Easy way and just delicious:
Beat 2 sticks of room temp real butter with approx 4 T of Crisco..................beat, beat, beat until light and fluffy..........add small amounts of sifted powdered sugar at a time and keep beating. Total amount of powdered sugar is generally 2-3 cups but the secret is to add small amounts, stop clean the sides of the bowl and keep adding and keep beating. Add about a teaspoon of vanilla. Only at the end do you gradually add small amounts of room temp milk (cold will curdle your frosting) (hot will seperate your frosting). Slow the mixer down and add additional milk until you receive the consistancy of what you're looking for.
Leave butter on the counter to soften (if you nuke it, the frosting turns out different) Powdered sugar needs to be sifted before adding...turns out again different if you do not sift. I do nuke the milk but I make sure it's not too hot and neither cold.
Chocolate Frosting....either add sifted cocoa or 4 squares of bakers semi sweet....chips can also be melted....cool before adding.
Strawberry Frosting...use a frozen package of thawed strawberries....room temp
