I am not a big baker. I have always wanted a KitchenAid but couldnt justify buying one.
I did put myself on the wait list for grenadine. Common sense won out 3 days later and I cancelled my waitlist order.
I did however get a 30% off from Kohls. I am looking at the Artisan which is on sale for $349.99. With the $40 in Kohls Ca$h and the $50 rebate - I am looking at $155. Not bad. Now I may order.

I think they're beautiful to look at but honestly have no use for one. I do a lot of cooking and baking but have always managed with a food processor, hand mixer, whisk or just a big old spoon for stirring. I know if I got one it would just sit in a cupboard somewhere. I have a family member whose DH bought her one a few years ago because she had always admired them. She went on and on about all the things she was going to make with it. Guess what? It's barely been used and is no where to be seen in her home. Must be put away somewhere.

If you won't use the mixer much, I'd save even the Kohl's price and just use my handmixer.
There are deals on mixers all the time - so if your habits change, you can always find a decent price.

ITA. If you WOULD use it a fair amount, that's another thing entirely. But since you said you aren't really a big baker anyway - what's the point? It's just them talking you into 'needing' something you don't need.
I've been cooking since the beginning of time (or it seems like it - ha!) and have never had the need for a stand mixer. The hand mixer, and other tools, have served me well. Besides, since KA isn't made with the same integrity it once was, I'd buy a different brand if I were to suddenly need such a thing.

I think they are pretty counter jewelry. I have no doubt they are quite useful, but in my kitchen, wooden spoons, whisks, hand potato masher, and knives work just fine.

I use mine a few times a week - more at the holidays for baking but , honestly, I would never buy one new, because I would not get my money's worth from it. i inherited mine from my Mom and it is about 70 years old.Still runs like a dream - probably better than the new ones!! Before my Mom died I just used my KA hand mixer and it did fine. I live in Fl so i did invest in a KA juicer attachment and I use that the most of all.

I have one that was a wedding present back in 1996. Its beautiful but I tend to use my handmixer more than that mixer. You probably made a good decision.

I use mine all the time.
The one from Kohl's is a great deal though. You have to be realistic and know you will use it.

I agree with the OP on the counter jewelry point....LOL. I, too, am not a huge baker and as much as the color and glass bowl is appealing.......I have a Kenwood 700 watt stand mixer that we got as a wedding gift 20 years ago. The unit that I have more than meets my needs and it's stainless steel and black. It's a timeless design.
