@Zhills  These?

Also, I should have specified the Kuhn Rikon I use:

I have the Kuhn Rikon above.  I really like because I can't cut myself and it removes the whole top of can with no sharp edges.

I've had it for about 5 years.  It still works well, but as we know nothing lasts too long anymore.

I always keep a spare can opener on hand.  Nothing like trying to open a can and the favorite can opener decides to malfunction; just grab the other can opener.

@PA Mom-mom, that Kuhn-Rikon can opener is arguably my favorite kitchen item. What a revelation! My ancient electric opener is still taking up space under a cabinet. One of these days I will go to the trouble of unscrewing it and disposing of it. Not that it doesn’t still work, there’s just no comparison with the K-R.

I have the same Kuhn Rikon opener and sometimes I need to go around twice to get the can to open.

And I have had a few cans that are just stuck together so hard that I need pliers to pull the top off after going around with the opener.  I'm not sure that's the fault of the opener though.

@geezerette  Lately, I have to sometimes go around twice as well. I was wondering if it was because my KR opener is getting old. It's probably 10 years old by now.

Possibly.  I hadn't thought of that.  Mine is pretty old too.

I just use an old-fashioned can opener, the kind you turn by hand.  It works and, best of all, I don't have mechanical problems.
