I bought two of the Cook's Essentials cake ball machines last month. The balls didn't come out very round. After reading online tips, I tried one that advised flipping the machine over for the first couple of minutes, then back over for the rest of the cooking time. That worked better, but the balls still weren't perfectly round.
I read about a new one made by Babycakes that is made like the Waring waffle maker where it has the handle that allows you to rotate the pan. I just tried making brownies in it and they came out GREAT! I love this little machine! It also came with a big squeeze bottle that made filling the cake ball holes really easy.
I know the original way to make cake balls was to mix icing in with already-cooked cake crumbles and then to scoop them out to form balls. I have had those and they just feel sickeningly sweet to me. Plus when you pick them up, they are heavy!
Anyway, just wondered if anyone else had bought either of these machines.
