@eddyandme,  you have received some very good options as to brands but I would like to add that if you are in a location/situation where you can shop it would be to your benefit if you can physically handle the knives before you choose.  Once you have found knives you like you can go online and shop for price.

 

You want knives that are comfortable and feel well balanced in your hand.

What is good for the goose today will also be good for the gander tomorrow.

I have LamsonSharp knives.  Have had them for at least 10 years.  Made in the USA.  They do "break the bank", I guess, but they're well worth the price.
