I'd say Lodge. I ran across a few at World Market (Cost Plus). Excellent prices, as I recall. Pre-seasoned. Lodge has been in business for many years, maybe 100, more or less.

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

Cast iron is great in that even if you find an old pan at a garage sale/flea market that maybe a bit rusty it can be cleaned up and reseasoned. Lodge's website has instructions/video on seasoning/reseasoning. There maybe others, but the two main producers of USA made cast iron cookware is Lodge and (was) Wagner, so to fine a piece made by them is a good choice.

Oh and here is a question, my mommy had an older Wagner frying pan (the older Wagner pans had the name stamped in cursive letters, the newer went to block style), I think it was cast iron, but plated. Parts had a shine, but where well used was worn down to the base metal. It may have been nickle plated, thats all I can think that may have been used. I wish I had it, don't know what happened to it?

Thanks again, everyone!

I am going to take the suggestions to buy American and go w/ the Lodge from amazon.

I was going to get the Emeril at BB&B (mostly for the coupon and convenience of getting it at a store) but I appreciate what you all said regarding Lodge. Emeril's is indeed made in China.

You could get something like this from Macys. When you click the link you'll see a bunch of individual pieces also. I'm sure you could find something at Target.
