Re: C'mon. 'Fess up. What cooking related item have you bought that you REALLY don't need?

I have a rule for myself: wait a year to buy any small appliance that will clutter up the kitchen. Therefore, I don't have the fancy Kitchen Aid mixer or a bread machine or a George grill. However, I did buy an ice cream freezer impulsively last summer. Also, a friend let me borrow her bread maker for a year or so. Played with it several times and that was enough.

Notice no one says they never use their Kitchen Aid mixer or VitaMix!? Tells you something about what we do use the most.

True. I have both and love them. Another item I don't want to be without: mini Keurig.

this handbag{#emotions_dlg.blushing} I need to be punished and banned from handbag sites on internet.

Never mind. I didn't see the cooking item only. But now that you mention it I bought a tofu making kit. That stuff is harder and longer to make than cheese. Reading the directions wore me out.

Shoekitty, your tofu making kit made me think of yet another one of my dumb purchases-- a soy milk maker. Fortunately, my good senses were restored to me in time to return it.

I purchased a Mashy Egg Masher from Amazon. I needed to spend $5 more to get free shipping, so I looked for an inexpensive item.

I have to admit that it works really good, so it wasn't wasted money.

I forgot about my dehydrater....Made beef jerky and it was good, but realized I ate a 4 pound roast in one sitting. Didn't use it much, so into a garage sale it went.

If you bought it on sale-it doesn't count as a stupid purchase! {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes}

This reminds me that a few years ago I was talked into purchasing a two tiered electric steamer from QVC. It was on sale for something like four payments of $4. As it turns out, it's one of my most useful gadgets. I never make potato salad without it, or broccoli, asparagus, hardboiled eggs.. you name it. I love it!

I guess what I meant is that I really don't NEED most of the gadgets I have...but I enjoy all of them..pressure cooker, 3 or 4 slow cookers, ninja, Cuisinart blender and food processor stand mixer, hand mixer, hand blender, halogen oven, induction burner, etc etc etc, someone said they have 3 9x13 pans...I have at least a dozen!!!!LOL..........my son laughs cause I have 2 refrigerators, and I live alone! His wife's young nephew came to visit for a week, and told my son, "gee, your mother has evrything!" And my son replied, "no, she has TWO of everything!!!"

I'll add to my ""mistake"" purchases: 2 Ninja's from QVC. Also an ice cream maker.

An ice cream maker and a pannini press. We use both but not real frequently and they are both taking up too much real estate in my kitchen
