I always count on stocking up on butter right before a holiday for around 1.50 lb. Not this year. Our are running about 2.50 per lb.

Kroger (Dillons) has LOL butter for $2.49 lb if you buy a combination of 10 items. It's pretty easy to come up with 10 items. I will have to go back before the sale ends Tues. night.

That is what LOL butter is on sale for right now in my area. Usually is what you posted in your OP. I stocked up last week but will get more during the coming week!

These are the prices I'm used to seeing at holiday time as well, and the lowest we've seen butter in this area was at Aldi this week for 2.29, Land O Lakes at Kroger for 2.49. Don't think it will get any better than this for this year.

Lots of articles about why the price of butter is up, everything from drought conditions in California and cattle sell off, to increased feed prices, to increased export to Asia, to increased demand in USA as people move away from margarine and processed spreads and back to the basic whole foods like butter.

The supermarket near us (A&P) has buy 3 Pillsbury crescent rolls and get Land O' Lakes 1 lb butter for 99 cents. We will give away some of the rolls but I did tell him to 6 so we could get 2 lbs.
