Recently Consumer Reports rated Trader Joe's Brownie Truffle Mix as the best of all the brownie mixes. Being a Ghiradelli's Brownies fan, I naturally wanted to see if anything else could meet that standard. Well, they are both great. The TJ's brand makes an 8 x 8 pan and calls for adding 2 large eggs and a stick of melted butter. Instructions are easy and it is a fast quick, but very rich, dessert.

When the brownies come out of the oven, I sprinkle semi-sweet Nestle's morsels generously over the top and return the pan to the oven for another couple of minutes, just enough to soften the morsels. Then I remove them from the oven and spread the softened morsels to make a nice thick icing for the brownies. My husband and his buddies love this, and it's so easy to do.
