Is there anyone who owns both? I already own an air fryer - and just upgraded to the large size this past TSV. I've always wanted one of those large Breville toaster/convection counterotp ovens, but am wondering if it is too similar? I guess the Breville could fit larger things - like a pizza, a pan of muffins, larger casserold etc than even the large air fryer could do. But still woudl that be worth it? My countertop space is pretty limited thoguh the Breville would just go wihere my current toaster is righ tnow.

I own the largest Breville and we use it every day. It fits a 13x9 pan as long as it doesn't have handles. I've baked all kinds of things in it, even pies. I can't compare it to the air fryer as I don't own one.

Bought the Breville smart oven from Macy's - it gets really hot on the outside, takes a while to warm up, not easy to clean and a big box. It takes as long to cook as if you turned on the oven so it was a total waste to me.
I bought the NuWave and love it. Had the large Air Fryer on order and my sister talked me down and said "not till your other machine breaks"
I would definitly get the Air Fryer over the smart oven.
Love kitchen gadgets but counter space is a premium. The air fryer is nice but the surface for food is not as large as the NuWave and watching presentations the deep sides make it a tad difficut to get out plates and larger foods.

I don't see the Breville and an air fryers performing the same functions at all. The convection (fan) function of the Breville is minimal so you'd never do "air frying" in it. on the other hand, you can't bake a sheet of cookies or make toast in an air fryers. The Breville can do everything a regular oven can do...I haven't used my oven in over a year, since I got my Breville. I much prefer it to my air fryer.
I also had a Nuwave oven. it came on by itself in the middle of the night and was extremely hot when I discovered it. Would not turn off except by unplugging. Took the whole thing and put it in my garbage can.

I ordered the F a g o r oven H368203 instead of the air fryer. I've been wanting a small convection oven, I live alone, this seemed the best for me.
It's similar to the Nuwave, except when you want to take the top off, with the Nuwave you take the entire top with glass bowl, With the F a g o r you just take off the top. Easier for me to handle.
I will use it for mostly proteins.

@hopi I am sad to say I feel the same way about the Breville oven. I am glad I bought it at a great price but when I go to replace it (which may not be long based on the issues I am having with the electronics) for me next time around I will research more reviews and purchase accordingly.

It is like comparing apples and oranges, two different functions. I would never ever be without my large Breville oven, the best appliance in my kitchen. I have not used my big oven in years. I bought mine from BB&B used a 20% off coupon. Everyone I know that has the Breville, feels the same as I do.

I do have the Breville Pro (with the light) and I also have an air fryer, but a small one. They function differently. I am using the air fryer mostly for "frying" things that I would normally do in a skillet like meat, fish, etc because I don't like to clean up all the splatter and don't like the smell which is hard to get out of my apartment. I use the Breville for everything else like baking, etc. They are both wonderful in their own way.

Breville just came out with the Smart Oven Air, which now also air fries and dehydrates. I love their Smart Oven so this is really tempting. You can check it out at Williams Sonoma

I looked at Breville and Cuisanart ovens when I decided to replace my very old DeLongi "air fan" toaster oven.
I was talked into the cuisanart due to the longer warranty than the Breville. I'm surprised that when I roast veggies in it, it takes longer than my regular oven.
