I WISH I could. I'm allergic to wheat, dairy, egg whites and Bakers yeast. Corn tortillas are my best option! {#emotions_dlg.w00t}

I buy the frozen dough balls and will set them out when I get home tonight to rise. I'll bake them in the morning. Tastes like homemade.

For Christmas Day lunch I just baked 2 loafs of French bread. (They slice best if baked the day before serving.) For gift giving I've made 6 ""teddy bear"" breads and 4 pans of cinnamon rolls. Living in Kansas and growing up on a wheat farm has given me a certain perspective about the gift of bread. Merry Christmas!!

We must be about the only ones, but we don't do a bread.

Well, if I make lasagne (garlic cheese bread) or a sandwich there's bread, but that's the extent of it.

You're not alone. We don't serve bread/rolls either. Maybe if it's something like a soup or salad supper, but not as a side with a large or holiday type meal.

I normally make Panettone, and I might make some later today as a gift for dinner at a friend's. This was my father's favorite bread, because he loved candied fruit peel and he loved bread over cake.

It's an egg bread, not too different than Jewish Challah, and it has raisins and candied peel in it. It's really nice lightly toasted, with a cup of coffee for a breakfast or tea time.

It works up well in a bread machine because the traditional Panettone is a tall loaf rather than a long one. Traditionally, it's round, but I actually like a squared loaf.

Campion -- I would like to have your Panettone recipe for the bread machine. You might look at #12 here - which is my post for Sally Lunn. It's very good. I love to use the bread machine for kneading the dough and then shaping it and baking it traditionally.
