For me, nothing smells better than yeast rolls baking . Yours are picture perfect and I just know they were tasty! @SharkE

Simple recipe had for yrs. from Taste of Home magazine that was sent in by a man, no less.   LOL

 

 

OLD FASHION BREAD

 

2 ENVELOPES YEAST (EITHER FAST OR SLOW I'M PARTIAL TO RAPID RISE)  I HAVE TO MAKE A CONFESSION I USE PLATNINUM YEAST I GET FROM EITHER WAL-MART OR AMAZON CAN'T GET IN MY PART OF TX. BEST THERE IS)

 

1/2 C. VERY WARM WATER (I USE 115' IN ALL MY STUFF)

1 CUP WATER

1 CUP WHOLE MILK

1/4 C. SUGAR

4 TABLESPOONS BUTTER

1 TABLESPOON SALT  (I SALT TO MY OWN TASTE)  LOL

8 CUPS OF FLOUR  (I USE KING ARTHUR BREAD FLOUR AND KNOW BY EXPERIENCE JUST HOW MUCH TO ADD .  DON'T SEEM LIKE I USE THAT MUCH CLOSER TO 6-7) BREAD IS A LEARNING THING YOU JUST PICK IT UP WITH AGE & KNOW )

 

ADD 1/2 C. WARM WATER TO YEAST. STIR. HEAT WATER, MILK, SUGAR, SALT AND BUTTER. I HAVE MY BUTTER ALREADY SOFTENED SO BY THE TIME YOU HEAT IT  IT WILL BLEND IN WITH THE YEAST & WATER. STIR IN 4 CUPS OF FLOUR, BEAT TILL SMOOTH. MIX IN 3 MORE CUPS OF FLOUR. TURN DOUGH OUT ON FLOURED BOARD, I GOT QUARTZ COUNTERS ADD LITTLE FLOUR ON IT. KNEAD FOR A FEW MINUTES. PUT DOUGH IN GREASED BOWL, LET RISE IN WARM PLACE YOU CAN COVER I SELDOM TOO WITH THE PLATNIUM YEAST IT WILL RISE FAST. LET RISE FOR AN HR UNTIL ALMOST DOUBLED. PUNCH DOUGH DOWN, DIVIDE INTO 2 MOUNDS, ROLL EACH PIECE INTO RECTANGLE. JELLY ROLL STYLE.

 

PLACE IN GREASED LOAF PAN LET RISE AGAIN TILL DOUBLED IN WARM PLACE. JUST ABOUT DOUBLED. PREHEAT OVEN TO 400'

BAKE FOR  25 MINUTES. MINE I USUALLY BAKE FOR 20. DEPENDS ON YOUR OVEN. YOU CAN BUTTER THE TOP AFTER YOU BAKE IT NOT BEFORE YOU PUT IN OVEN. MAKES IT TOO BROWN LOOKS BURNT. BUTTER IT AFTER YOU TAKE OUT OF OVEN AND LET THE BUTTER GIVE IT A GLOSS.

 

COOL, SHOULD POP OUT OF BREAD PANS. YOU CAN ALWAYS GO AROUND IT WITH BREAD KNIFE TO LOOSEN IT UP WILL POP OUT.

Thank you!  Funny you should mention that recipe was submitted by a man....My request for your recipe post is for my husband who bought himself a standing mixer to make bread.

Yesterday I couldn't believe it there wasn't one Pillsbury product on the shelves. Refrigerated case was empty !  I thought thank the Lord I can make my own bread, rolls, biscuits. My sister said it was because of the Super Bowl.  Hope he does good !
