Another vote for Lock and Lock here. I store all my dry pantry goods in L & L.

I agree with everybody else - go with something that is airtight and you're good.
I love the idea one person gave about putting the bag of flour in the freezer for 48 hours before storing it away. I've never had bugs in my flour but that would be a great way to go because you never know. You didn't have control of it before you purchased it so the possibilities are endless.
I also use L&L. It's proven airtight and foods like this will stay good pretty much forever. The last time I bought flour or sugar, brown sugar, whole wheat flour, etc, was years ago and all those things are perfectly fresh.
Well, I do put a 'brown sugar bear' in with the brown sugar because that's a whole other thing. ![]()

Can anyone recommend a handy store canister/container?

@Nightowlzwrote:I also have one of those storage containers from King Arthur. I keep it in the refrigerator.

@Carmiewrote:Does anyone other than me put a bay leaf in with the flour?
No but I still place Bay Leafs in my cabinets. It really does keep all the critters at bay, and that's not a crazy pun.![]()

One for flour, one for sugar, and the third for Bisquick.
They must be from '65-'75, because they're the bright orange from that era. The lids are still flexible and the "one finger" Seal & Burp still works like new.
Gotta love that old Tupperware...I still use that green colander I bought in 1974!
My flour is stored in a Lock and Lock bin with an opening that lets you scoop from the side near the top.
I have a set of them still like new in the avocado green color. I use them to store cookies, etc, but not as canisters for sugar and flour anymore

I have Rubbermaid containers that I use to hold a 5 lb. bag of flour, and a large bag (or 2) of sugar. I've had them for decades, so the exact same items aren't made any longer.
I found something very similar at Walmart online. It's by Rubbermaid and it's a 2.5 liter container. In the Q&A section it addresses the capacity, and this container can hold a 5 lb bag of flour.
I don't like the new plastic containers with fancy rubber seals around the lids. I think those create more problems than they solve. A simpler design will last longer with fewer issues IMO.

Bed and Bath has tons of storage containers. My favorites are OXY O
that you push down on the center button to close and open. No popping of all those corners and then having to pop back down on 4 sides.

@BeccaLou It's not King Arthur Brand just bought it from them. The brand on it is Progressive 5 lb flour Prokeeper.
They have it at Amazon for just under $17 if you have Prime.
Bed Bath & Beyond has it for $18 & it's $19 at King Arthur.
They also make different sizes for sugar, brown sugar, coffee, grains etc.
