Barefoot Contessa - Foolproof (Review)

I picked up Ina's new book today. I have all the others and have only been disappointed with the last one (lots of reruns).

But reading this one, there is lots of new and lots I want to try.

She should have called this book "Get Your Lobster On" - -lot's o'lobster in this one.

Some of these are from this season of the show, the penne recipe is from a restaurant guy who came on the show (I printed the recipe out but haven't made it yet). Some recipes are from other people/restaurants. Some are very similar to recipes she already has (or just putting in the Homemade Chicken Stock for the 6th time), but most of this is new. Tons of desserts in this one. Two pages of Table of Contents on the Dessert Section (but I don't know if I can forgive her for using Reese's Pieces).

Parmesan Crisps - she add thyme this round
The lobster mac n cheese is not new though, I know that's been on the show and I thought it was in another book.
Asparagus and eggs is old but she adds proscuitto this time.
Mexican Hot Chocolate - so now we have hot chocolate, white hot chocolate and mexican hot chocolate. What's left besides salted caramel hot chocolate?

Standouts for me (and most likely worth the price of the book):

Carmelized Bacon - 'nuff said
Tuscan Mashed Chick Peas
1770 House Meatloaf with Garlic Sauce
Cinnamon Baked Donuts (I'm going to make these this weekend if I have time)

It's a keeper.
