I like Land O Lakes, also. Just last week (or was it the week before? anyway...) one of the stores I frequent had these pounds of LOL butter on ad for that same price.
But the different, for me anyway, thing was that they were the cutest little half-cubes. I never saw that before. So I vac-sealed them in foursies. ![]()

I am Team Land O'Lakes, too. My mother used it growing up and so that's what I use.
It also has a better butterfat content than store brand, which is probably the reason for the taste difference.
When I've had cookies that other people make with shortening or margarine, I can definitely tell they are not made with butter. It's a different texture and firmness.
I think it's a matter of what your mother did and what you grew up tasting.
A lot of people have to use McCormick Vanilla because that's the flavor they remember growing up.

I did substitute margarine for butter in a couple of my cookie recipes. I will never do that again. I definately noticed a difference in taste. Merry Christmas everyone !!

I don't even buy margarine. Yes, my mom bought it when we were growing up, but just like that maple flavored corn syrup I don't buy it's only real maple syrup at my house.
