Baby Bella Mushrooms - Question

I bought some of these (whole) tonight for a recipe I'm making tomorrow afternoon. Should I refrigerate them?

I always do.  At my grocery they are kept in the cooled vegetable area.  @beach-mom

I read ages ago to immediately remove from store package and put them in a paper bag.

Don't remember the science, but it helps them stay fresher, longer in the fridge.

It works, I use lunch bags.

@RespectLife I try to do this when I bring them home from the store. . . I fail at least 3/4 of the times . . . Smiley Sad

You are correct on the paper lunch bag to maintain freshness. I get an order of local grower fresh harvested sh*ttake or oyster mushrooms weekly. They come in a folded down paper lunch bag.

When received, I put them in a fresh paper lunch bag with piece of paper towel on the bottom and top. I place the bag in the refrigerator on the bottom shelf toward the front. Not in the crisper drawer. That seems to keep them fine and dandy until I'm ready to use them in a recipe a few days later.

Cheers!

Re: Baby Bella Mushrooms - Question

When I buy mushrooms, I usually take them from the package and put them on a clean dishtowel to let them dry out--that pack is always too wet ----then I put them in paper towels and then into a green box--remember those? works very well.

At what point are they washed?
