If there is someone here that is looking at a great deep fat fryer and I owning a WP 1800 watt, Emeril T-Fal, Tim Love smaller capacity and 1800 watt, I can say without a question after frying up 3 lbs of my homemade tortilla chips that the best of all of these is not one that I listed BUT..

I steam cleaned a fryer that I had given up on a while back because of "hype" with Emeril and WP, and I used it today and it is superb and made the most beautiful evenly fried chips batch after batch and this fryer is the Delonghi Roto Fryer. In addition to it using less oil than any of the above, it was able to maintain the proper temperature relatively accurately. As an example:

The new Emeril 1200 watt T-Fal although it reached 375, it quickly lost temperature with NOTHING in the fryer down to about 366 (not so bad) BUT when I put LESS chips than I did today in the Delonghi, it went down rapidly to about 298!. In the course of making the chips, it came up again to 333 but never approached 350 let alone the 375 it was set at and resulted in uneven frying.

The Delonghi peaked at about 374 and after putting chips in (many more than the Emeril) it went down to about 336 and immediately the temperature came on and very quickly it was near 350 and way before the chips were done (I set timer for 3 min total) it was again close to 366.

The capacity of the Roto-Fryer is not as great as that of the others, BUT I would never have known it as I turned out the chips in record time. Just to give an idea of how many were done, they almost filled a 38 cup BPA Free Lock & Lock that I got from A. That is quite a few and the oil looks perfect so far.
