I love her. I think she and Jeffrey are so cute together. Everything she makes always look yummy, delicious and simple to prepare.

I enjoy watching her cook, but the set-ups are always so contrived and scripted that it's a bit ridiculous. I'm not doubting that they love one another and enjoy their lives together, but that's also made me wonder how scripted the sweetness between Ina and Jeffrey might be. I was also disappointed when I read in this forum that she refused to grant a "Make a Wish" request to a sick child a few years ago. That has altered my opinion of her as a person.

I believe I heard that Ms. Garten did not refuse the child and that she didn't even know about the request.

Yes, and when she heard about it she tried to rearrange her schedule to accomodate the request, but the family had already chosen a different "wish" to fulfill.

When I did a little research, just now, it seems that the boy made the request twice and both times was denied. Once it reached the public and there seemed to be a bit of a kerfuffle because it seemed he was being turned down while Ina had plenty of time to host some of the hoity toity set from The Hamptons. In the end, Ina contacted the family, willing to meet with them and their son, but the parents decided against it because they didn't want to put anymore stress on their son, and opted for a different wish. It might not be as bad as it sounds, but for the two refusals. Yes, Ina may have tried to mend things, but all the circumstances surrounding the controversy were unfortunate.

How do you know the two requests were even ever received by Ina? Just because he made the request to make a wish, does not mean it was received by Ina herself...
but, believe what you want to believe... None of us can really know for sure, can we?

I enjoy her presentations and her soft voice. They deserve a lot of credit to have worked their way to the top. He has a PhD.
Totally agree. Her show is the only one I watch on the Food Network.

Even if it were true, sometimes you can't do everything that other people expect you to do.

I like her tips for entertaining, too. One tip I've used and have passed on to friends:
When you are having a party of several people (I've done this with as many as 12), set out several quality hors duoevres.? Where the heck is spell check? Both hot and cold. Figure on 6 pieces per person. This allows the group to mingle, talk, and take care of themselves.
Serve a main dish (I usually do a casserole) and salad, and bread. Makes the meal so much easier than trying to coordinate multiple things coming out of the oven at the same time and figuring how to display all the food, etc.
Of course, dessert later. I can't tell you how this has helped me reduce stress when having people over. Thanks to Ina.
