Re: Anyone Else Dislike Making Cookies?

Baking is very relaxing to me!  I put on  the holiday music and the hours pass quickly🙂

I always said "baking or cooking" is my "therapy" -- it's gotten me through some "rough sad moments".

When I'm in the kitchen doing what I enjoy nothing else matters.

I will start 9 pm and bake through the night -- next thing I know it's 7am🤷‍♀️

The best thing is when others get their trays and tell me how they enjoyed them...I will be doing some for the freezer to take to spouses of my cousins at our "cousins yearly getaway" in January🤞🏻🤞🏻.

(My spouse does not enjoy anything about any holiday or does he eat sweets -- I don't let him stop me from making my own good moments and enjoying the holidays)

Happy Baking & Merry Christmas 🎅🏻🎄

@Carmie  Your baking is a labor of love, cause you can't sample!  I wish I had your freezer space!

Re: Anyone Else Dislike Making Cookies?

@Mom2Dogs   My freezers are full.  No more room left.

My DH went hunting and I told him that if he got something, we would need to buy another freezer.  I saw a few in Walmart and Sams Club that were affordable, but yeah...he didn't get anything.

I need to use up some of my stuff, so I have room for more.

To be honest, when we closed up our place at the Lake  this fall, I had to bring all the food that was in the chest freezer home.  That is why I am out of room. I think I have some bags of ice in there too taking up space.

@CrazyKittyLvr2 , I hate baking...period.  I don't have a sweet tooth.  I have been making pies, cakes, cookies for more than 40 years and I don't eat any of it.  DH definitely has a sweet tooth so I do it for him❤️.  S aka Lilysmom

Re: Anyone Else Dislike Making Cookies?

I enjoy baking to a degree.  I am NOT a cookie maker.  My sister bakes a lot, and so does my dad.  Both make excellent cookies, and I get many from them at the holiday.  My dad makes THE best potato chip cookie ever!  Great mix of sweet and salty, delicious!

i enjoy my packaged Biscoff cookies, and try to limit my sweets.

I’d much rather make an apple or cherry crisp.

Re: Anyone Else Dislike Making Cookies?

I love baking, but pretty much limit myself to the occasional cake or pie and Christmas cookies. I'm not artistic either, so fancy cookies are out. This year I'm baking 8 kinds of cookies (down 1 from last year). I'll start baking on Wednesday and finish next Tuesday, baking the sturdier cookies early and the more fragile ones next Tuesday. I give them to local friends and family, so I don't have to worry about getting them in the mail. I'm also baking a pumpkin pie on Christmas Eve and making lemon curd cups with whipped cream on Christmas Day.

I've found that those thick kitchen floor mats (sorry, I can't find the name now that I want it) work really well to relieve back pain from prolonged standing. You have to get the expensive ones, as the cheapies just don't work.

Not me!  I love baking cookies.   I just put my favorite rock music and headset on and bake and dance.  There is really nothing I dislike baking.  I abhor housework and would rather spend my time baking!

I agree that it is a chore; however, I also agree that I would rather bake than do housework.  It is also nostalgic and a tradition to bake Christmas cookies, as I make Kolachy cookies in remembrance of my Mom and a version of Italian Knot cookies in remembrance of my husband's Mom.  It keeps their memories "more real" especially for our boys and gives them an ethnic tradition to hopefully continue.

I remember my Mom and I baking until 2am one Christmas season.  We were wrapping presents and had two ovens going at the same time.  We were so exhausted, but we never laughed so hard either.

No, I am an avid baker year round!
