I had two Hydrox cookies with my coffee this morning. Our nephew remembered that we had liked the Sunshine Hydrox cookies years ago and he found some in a store down his way. He thought of me and bought a package. My sister brought them over last night.
Years ago, the Hydrox cookie was the cookie in our family. It was made by Sunshine and was really popular. Then Nabisco came up with the Oreo and the rest is history. Nabisco bought Hydrox and phased it out. Now Leaf Brands bought Hydrox from Nabisco and has started to make them again.
They're made with real sugar and they really are quite good (but don't tell my DH I said that. Well, actually he also said they're pretty darn good, too, although not as good as the Oreo DoubleStuf, which is his commercial cookie of choice. He also said that the DoubleStuf is a better "dunker" than the Hydrox.).
I enjoyed my cookies and my blast from the past.

Yes! We loved Hydrox - so much better than Oreos. Hydrox didn't leave the roof of your mouth feeling like thick creme was stuck to it, and had a much crispier, fresher taste. My DS tried the new ones and thought they were okay. Oh the memories ~

@PamelaSue72 I remember them. In fact my mom only bought those and not oreos when we were kids.

It's funny how a little thing like a cookie can bring on a flood of nice memories. I remember Hydrox from when I was a kid. There was always a Hydrox vs Oreo competition...lol Like the Miracle Whip vs Hellman's Mayonnaise feud.

I remember them well. Did not know they were being made again. I'll have DH look for some.

High five for Hydrox! Yes we ate them too growing up. Drinking them in our milk when we ate them but if you left them in just those seconds too long, PLOP they went breaking off in your milk making a big messy SPLASH! Then you had to either fish them out or drink your milk to get to the bottom of the glass to slurp in your cookie.
And yeah, we had these instead of oreos. Were oreos even around when we ate Hydrox? not really sure.

I did not like them growing up, we ate Oreos instead. When a Trader Joes opened up they have their own version of them called JoJos and taste great and all natural. I also love Newmans Own version as well in the organic isle of my grocery.

Our family definitely preferred Hydrox to Oreos. Delicious!

We did not have either one growing up. My Mother never bought cookies (she never made then either).
