Also..Help kitchenaid deluxe edition

I purchased the kitchenaid stand mixer deluxe model w glass bowl...it is very hard to shift from stir to next speed...takes a bit more muscle....is this normal? TIA Also..I have pro 600 and a 12 yr old ultra model that do not seem as stiff... I do not know if it is normal and if it will get easier over time...it takes a bit of effort to the point that you pressed it and may push it past the actual speed you want. Do not know if anyone else that may have purchased this from the Q may have the same issue..and perhaps it isnt an issue?
