I purchased a set of All Clad this weekend - on sale at Sur La Table.  Can't wait to use it.  Also received a couple of bonus pieces.  I figure it will be the last set I ever buy.  LOL!!

Over the years I've replaced all my pots and pans with All Clad.  I didn't buy a set, I purchased individual pieces.  I just got an All Clad griddle yesterday at William-Somoma.  I also have the All Clad grill and use it a lot.  I get all my All Clad from William Sonoma because my husband gives me gift certificates every holiday and every Christmas...it really adds up.  But I only purchase when there is a sale, usually 20%.

@mare54@ScrapHappyBoth of you should sign up at allclad dot com and watch for their "seconds" sales.  I have bought many pieces during these sales and have not been disappointed.  Recently, I bought 3 hard anodized, non-stick fry pans and I believe all 3 were less than $80.  Their grande grill and griddle usually cost $40 during these sales.  The quality of these "seconds" is outstanding.  I have inspected my pieces and could not find anything wrong.  If my memory is right, I think they recently had a "starter" set of the SS pots and pans for around $400.  There are always sites you could check for free shipping, but if not AC shipping & handling charges are about $5 regardless of what's purchased.

mare54: I've had my All-Clad pots & pans for a long time, before they came out with pans that don't take 4EVER to heat up. I hate All-Clad. Not only do they take forever to heat up, they are a pain to clean. Even boiling water, a water mark is left and using soap & H20 doesn't get rid of the mark. Major scrubbing is needed to keep these pans looking shiny & new. I HATE All-Clad. But, they were an investment, thus I keep using them.

Buy the high end of this brand that has copper in the core. That will eliminate the time it takes for a pan to heat up.Get domestic help for cleaning these pans.

I have an All Clad grill pan that I use on my elongated center burner and I love it. Everything always cooks great.

@bonappetit  You are probably heating them TOO high causing them to be hard to clean.  You need to heat on med/high heat, the oil with cold oil and put food in.

We use an All-Clad steel wok and when we are finished stir frying add hot water to it and by the time we do dishes it is easy to clean.

Experiment with the heat because AC shouldn't be hard to clean up.   Good luck!!

Hey Sooner, maybe. My pans are 20+ years old so they are old technology.

But some dishes you need hot, hot heat, as you say stir fry, cooking meat, fish with a good sear. Medium heat doesn't do it or it takes way too long.  The oil/grease line one gets with frying leaves a nasty film which doesn't come off easy by simple putting H20 in &  turning on the heat.

AC recommends Bar Keeper's helper but it's a waste of time & $. I use comet & brillo pads to scrub. As I mentioned even water from steaming veggies. Leaves a horrible water mark that any other pan you could simply use soap & hot H20 & the line is gone. Not so with AC. Hate my pans. Plus they are so heavy. The newer technology AC may be better. I just don't recommend this brand.

I've bought 2 AC grill pans & had to throw them both out!! At $100+ a pan it's expensive. The grill pans rusted & I make sure they are put away dry.In fact I put them my cooled off oven to make sure they are dry. Both pans, rust. I sent them into AC & complained. Their customer service wasn't any help. Never again AC!!!

I like using my All Clad pans. To remove the white deposits that you may get on the pans from boiling water I'd recommend boiling a vinegar and water solution for a few mins and then let it cool and rinse. The white deposits are mineral deposits from water and it happens on all of my stainless steel cookware.  Good luck with your purchase, I hope you'll enjoy using them as much as I do mine.

Sounds like a few haters. I'm excited to learn and I think you have to learn how to cook with them. I have an induction cooktop so I think these will work great. Yes you cook on lower heat. I made my DH and I omelets yesterday and they turned out great. LOW HEAT is the secret. The set I purchased is All Clad d5 Brushed SS. I think I'm going to love them!!!
