I have been told in the past by the staff at this store to come in the night before if there was something I wanted as I have missed out going on Wednesdays..Boop

I don't know if Aldis gives rain checks.  Any body know?

I don't really consider this a rip-off nor a bait and switch.  It's just disappointing.  The Aldi flyers are put out for all the stores and not all areas are going to get in the same merchandise. They aren't going to print up different flyers for each store.

Some stores are busier than others and those busier stores will get in more items than the other stores.  Then they sell out early.

They did say they got 2 of them in, unfortunately you just missed getting them.

Mmmm. Really? I wish I knew which store. Perhaps the DM needs to speak with them to review the policies and procedures manual.

So - why is this a rip-off?  Or even a bait and switch as another poster said?

OP didn't pay more for the item nor was she sent to buy a buy expensive one.

I'd be disappointed if I'd needed it that day, but mildly because the turkey is still arriving and I didn't even have to get it in and out of my car.

Because they advertise something they know they won't be able to supply the demand for, so it baits you to get you in the store.  You come to the store, buy other things, and they've made money off something they are pretty sure they won't have in stock.  It is NOT a good business practice, and stores have paid big fines for it in the past.  Back when customer more demanded honesty than they do now.

At the risk of seeming insensitive and blunt, I must say get over it.

It is a silly turkey fryer at a discount food store.  With all of the problems in the world today, crying rip off and bait and switch when you clearly do not understand the meaning is beyond childish.

Guess I'm not following the reasoning here with OP. They were sold out, she is stil getting it for the same price. What's the problem?

In defense of Aldi's, I am sure that those weekly ads are printed months in advance, so, what happens if their shipment is late? I have had that happen to me with some of their speciality foods. They' usually show up the the following week. Second, this is not "bait and switch". Do you even know what that is? It's advertising an item and when you show up to purchase it, the store tells you they don't have it and tries to sell you a more expensive item. Did Aldi;s try to sell you a more expensive turkey fryer? Then it's not bait and switch. Lastly, if you can't wait for the turkey fryer until the following week, I'm pretty sure that you can find one elsewhere, and probably less that what they charge at QVC.

Re: Aldi rip off

[ Edited ]

They are better during the holidays around here keeping the the things out & stocked in their weekly ad. I hardly ever go on Weds the day the ad starts. A lot of time they have the stuff in the ad but it's piled up in boxes they have not opened yet. If it's like our Aldi's they have no phone number you can call & ask before going to their store.

Aldi's isn't a huge store.  They cannot carry the quantity of items that say a Walmart, Target, Macy's, Kohls can carry. They are primarily a grocery store so I wouldn't expect them to get in 50 of a non-food item such as a fryer.
