I've read the recent threads on air fryers but am hoping I can get opinions on what to buy based on our needs. It is just my husband and me, but he is a large eater. I have absolutely no knowledge of air fryers and don't have any idea what to look for in one. The Paula Deen fryer on Evine has caught my attention, but I don't know if it has features I need or want. Can someone take a look at it and see if it has what a person would want? If it doesn't, can someone direct me to one that does and is a good brand? Thank you so much for your help.

I have a few different air fryers and I picked up the Paula Deen one because of the size. I had wanted to air fry a turkey breast for Thanksgiving, but the fryers I have were too small. I really liked the size of this one, so I will try it. It may not be the one I use all the time, but I am looking forward to using it for those times when I want a larger meal. I also use the first one I got, which is a Phillips, often. For just myself, it is great. I have found that airfrying a burger makes the BEST hamburger I have ever had.
By the way, if you want to order her cookbook, it is much cheaper at Amazon, as are most things, especially when Evine slaps on those S&H charges.

I think it sounds good for you. The size of the basket is the thing I pay more attention to. If it's too small, you have to cook in two batches. 8.5qt should be plenty big. I have a 3.5qt cooks essentials and I find it barely big enough to cook for one.

A friend just got a small NuWave and likes it, BUT has to move the basket all the time to get even cooking. I know very little about them except Phillips is rated #1. If you are a Costco member or have a friend who is, they are $159 right now online. Good luck

Thank you so much for the quick replies, everyone! Does the Paula Deen look like an easy one to clean? We don't have a Costco anywhere around here, unfortunately.

The Evine Paula Deen one will be an excellent start. I purchased it too as an upgrade from my small one. It will be a great size for one or more depending on what you want to cook. If your husband is a large eater, then this is the one to get. The ceramic non-stick is great and doesn't give under metal utensils and the one basket is less to clean than the two basket variety. The extra pans will make baking in it and the flexibility of cakes, pies, and things super easy.

I really like my air fryer, one night I made sweet potato fries, baked broccoli and bagel chips, it was great, I would empty it and refill it.

I have the Phillips air fryer and it’s just DH and me. It’s too small and an have to cook in batches.
I agree that you should buy the one with the biggest basket you can find. The PD air fryer looks like a winner. It’s a really nice size.

I really want to thank everyone for their replies. I wanted the white, but it sold out. I kept checking, and voila! It became available again, so I ordered it. I've read through the instruction/recipe book that I found on the item number page, but since I am a rookie, I do have a few questions. How do I know how long to cook something that's not listed in her guide? For example, if I want to cook frozen eggrolls, do I use the temp given on the box? Turn over after half the time? Where would be a good place to find basic directions and conversions? Thanks to all who will help this experienced cook but beginner air fryer. lol
