About that turkey shortage....

Yeah, the forecast turkey shortage doesn't seem to exist. At least not here in South Jersey. I just got back from three stores and all three were very heavily stocked with turkeys at $0.99/pound. I'll be buying mine on Sunday, but I took a look around today and there were turkeys everywhere. If there's a shortage, they're hiding it very, very well.

No shortage here in West Texas either. Finding a turkey last year was much more difficult.

Same here in central NC. All the grocery stores have plenty of turkeys.

Re: About that turkey shortage....

My area has large turkeys and turkey breasts galore, but no smaller (under 16 pounds) turkeys.  Smiley Sad Hoping that will change over this weekend.

I always have trouble finding just a turkey breast so when I saw they had them at Walmart a month or so ago, I grabbed one. Not sure they've had them since.

@gardenman  I buy my turkey at a local farm market so no problems.  However I'm about an hour away from you and here I have not seen any shortages in any store locally....keeping fingers crossed!

No shortage in Central NJ either.

All three stores we go to have all had them.

I do know some of them were tremendous, I commented to my husband about how big they were.  I didn't notice if they had small ones.

Re: About that turkey shortage....

There is no Turkey shortage here in PA either.  I was in Wegmans last weekend and Turkey was .59 a pound, one to a customer.  Of course, they  had more expensive ones too.

i never saw that there was going to be a shortage of turkeys, just a shortage of smaller turkeys.  The larger ones are in abundance as expected.
