Well fellow bakers I just had to share my horrible cookie disaster after thinking I was being very clever.
I was making peanut butter blossoms that called for sweetened condensed milk and baking mix with other ingredients of course. Recipe given to me by a really good friend and I had tasted hers and they were delicious.
I started out by creaming the sweetened condensed milk and peanut butter as recipe called for. I went to get my baking mix and lo and behold I had none
. I always have bisquick, but not today. I decided to get really creative and try and make something else. I tasted the creamed mixture and it tasted like my peanut butter fudge. Well I added in some powdered sugar to tighten it up and a little vanilla. Pressed it into an 8x8 dish and thought I was really the smart one until------------all of the sweetened condensed milk rose to the top!!!! I mean it was just floating there!!!! What a hideous mess I had.
I always read about famous recipes that were created when someone had to improvise and the results were great. Well not so in my case.
Lesson for me in this story is to stick to recipes always and check pantry before attempting to make anything. Thought you all might enjoy this. I didn't actually, but now that it's over it is kind of funny.
Happy cooking to all
Vicki
