Joan Rivers used to say:  "The past is history; the future's a mystery; the present is a gift-that's why they call it the present."  But if you are a QVC salesperson, by all means remind us that "Mother's Day is right around the corner."  I know this is a sales tactic, but frankly, it really depresses me.

I know what you mean.

It kind of makes me feel like all the days before are being erased; also having to think about things, planning, cards etc that is 3 months- a quarter of a year ahead!

I don't even think they start selling Christmas in late September (aside from Christmas in July).

Maybe they feel like that is the next big big holiday, after Valentines day so they will talk aobut it for 3 months.

I think they are losing a lot of us that used to listen!

"If you walk the footsteps of a stranger, you'll learn things you never knew. Can you sing with all the voices of the mountains? can you paint with all the colors of the wind?"

I always FF when holidays that are months away start being the reason to "stock up" on multiples. It was September and anything that was under $50 was called a stocking stuffer. The only stuffing I was thinking about was in my t'giving turkey!! Now the talk is Mother's Day, bridal, bridesmaids gifts, Mother of the Bride. May and June. Jeeez. Time passes quickly enough. Don't rush it away!!!

Side note: When making jewelry for the galleries, I was on that awful schedule of planing so far ahead to be sure they had stock in Sept. for early Christmas shoppers & jewelry in garnet, ruby and red tones in enamel that had to be displayed for Valentine's Day the day after Christmas. Retirement. Ahhhhh!
