I always buy myself a handbag or a more expensive piece of jewelry and wrap it up.  I open it on Christmas and tell DH its from him.  He usually runs around at the last minute and buys me a CD.

When I first went back to work after taking time off to stay home with my children, I bought lots of For Me jewelry gifts.  It was so much fun!

I buy very little jewelry these days, but I do enjoy stopping at my local jewelry store and checking out the estate jewelry.  Have gotten some really nice pieces for much less than if I'd purchased them new.  Smiley Very Happy

Anyway, you should treat yourself and be kind to yourself.  Your Dad would want you to be happy.  I'm sorry you lost him but whenever someone speaks highly of their parent(s) I know they probably had a loving relationship and that's the best gift you can ever receive.

Find a Brighton store near you . They got beautiful bracelets. Don't have to worry about shining them up like you do silver, cheaper then gold, everyday and sometimes can be worn for more fancier occasions.

I do the same. DH likes it though because then when I get a compliment on the bag or jewelry I tell them it was a present from DH and he gets a nod and is told what good taste he has! He likes that a lot!

Why do people feel the need to treat themselves to a Christmas gift?

To make themselves happy during a rough time. It's something cheerful to focus on, instead of the painful things. That's why.
