embraced, clad, vermeil

SNBC advertises a lot of their silver as embraced, and some vermeil. Does anyone know what the difference is? Does vermeil have a thicker application than embraced? And then how thick is clad? There really needs to be one term for all this clad jewelry with the amount of microns of gold involved. It's very confusing!
