This is incorrect @banned again @sunshine 919 @spumoni99
CZ's ARE A MAN MADE MATERIAL USED TO MIMMICK THE LOOK OF DIAMONDS. IT IS NOT A NATURAL MATERIAL (mother earth). It is A CREATION OF A LABORATORY.
Did you read what I said? I said that cubic zirconium is not the man made version of zirconium dioxide (they have different crystallographic structures; ZrSiO4 is a silicate, ZrO2 is an oxide) I did not say that CZ is not man made. I said: "CZ is a synthetic oxide..."
Where did you study mineralogy, @gertrudecloset ?

Cubic zirconia (CZ) is the cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide (ZrO2). The synthesized material is hard and usually colorless, but may be made in a variety of different colors. It should not be confused with zircon, which is a zirconium silicate (ZrSiO4). It is sometimes erroneously called cubic zirconium.
@banned again all I know is that CZ's are synthetic (man made) and that Zircons are real.

That is not correct. It is not correct to state that CZ is the man made version of zircon because they have different crystalline structure. Now if you wanted to state that synthetic corundum is the man made version of natural sapphire or ruby, that would be correct because they would both be aluminium oxide; the natural version formed in the earth and the man made version created by flux melting.

@gertrudecloset Tell me again where you studied geology or what papers you wrote or contributed to?

@sunshine 919 - It's my birthstone (December)! My parents gave me a small square blue zircon ring when I was young. I still have it. I wore it every day until we got our high school class rings. It's way too small now, but I take it out to look at once in a while. ![]()

It is correct @banned again . ZIRCONS ARE NATURALLY OCCURING GEMSTONES. YOU DON'T NEED A GEOLOGY DEGREE TO UNDERSTAND THAT.
CZ'S AS WE KNOW THEM TO BE ABSOLUTE, BELLA LUCE, AND OTHER NAME BRANDS ARE MAN MADE. THEY ARE CREATED IN A LABORATORY. THEY ARE SYNTHETIC.
ZIRCONS ARE REAL AND MINED FROM MOTHER EARTH. I SEE THAT THE CLEAR ONES ARE OFTEN SOURCED FROM VIET NAM.
THAT IS IT. ZIRCONS ARE REAL GEMSTONES THAT COME IN BLUE, CLEAR, BROWN AND SO ON. CZ'S CAN BE MADE IN COLORS TOO, ALL IT TAKES IS TO ADD A CHEMICAL TO IT TO DO IT.
I READ THE GIA AND/OR THE IGI.
My Master's Degree is none of your business. I STILL KNOW THAT CZ'S ARE NOT MINED, BUT CREATED IN A LABORATORY.
Do not post to me about THIS subject again. I'm done with this discussion. I will not respond to you again. You think what you want, it's your right.

What the heck is mineraology @banned again ?

Mineralogy is the study of minerals—naturally occurring, inorganic, solid, crystalline substances with a definite chemical composition.

I like blue zircon. I don't find white zircon as sparkling, and di dnot appreciated it in the pieces I saw in person.
Zircon has grading too, if you get a good stone, it sparkle, if not, it is a rock, nothing else really.
