@beach-mom That's a wonderful gift, Beach Mom! My parents also gave me diamond studs for my 21st birthday 🤗

What a nice thread to start, @timeless , thank you! My first diamond was the engagement ring from my first husband, a quarter carat stone that was eye-clean, "ideal" cut, and probably "near colorless". With a loupe, it had two significant black inclusions. Sad to say, the first hubby had more flaws than the diamond he gave me, but hey, I kept the ring, had it made into a stud earring and sold the setting to US Goldbuyers along with some other scrap gold, years ago.
Since that, I've mostly bought my own diamonds, but I also inherited my Mom's diamond rings and earrings. Probably my favorite diamond piece is the Affinity diamond silver cross that was a TSV presented by Lisa Robertson, many years ago. It's large (probably 2+ inches) and ornate, and I bought it for my Mom for what turned out to be her last Christmas present I gave her. So it's very dear to me.

My parents gave me my birthstone ring and that had a few small diamonds in the setting. But my first diamond ring was from my dh. 48 years now! ![]()

I bought myself diamond studs when I got my first job. They were on layaway for what seemed like forever.
Love this story about Zsa Zsa Gabor. When her engagement didn't work out her fiancé asked for the ring back. She gave him back the ring but removed and kept the diamond.

I can't remember for sure but I believe it was my third really serious boyfriend when I was about 21 or 22 and they were very, very small diamond stud earrings. Honestly, they were not much, but I was tickled with them. It's the thought, as they say!

I had to think...it was my mom. Of course...she loved buying jewelry. Was from one of her favorite, local jewelry shops.
It's a very pretty 16", snake link, 14k gold chain necklace, with a pretty, basel set diamond in the center. I have others now, but I still wear that one to this day. It's simple. Pretty at my neck, by itlself, or layered with longer necklaces. It's a nice size that can be worn with everything, casually or dressed up.
My mom loved to "treat" herself, and me, with jewelry. All those pieces have lots of meaning to me.
ps. Right around the same age, so, I'm not exactly sure which came first..."first love" gave me a pretty 14k gold open heart ring, with a small diamond in the center. I still have that ring.

I received a promise ring from my boyfriend when I was 15. It was a white gold heart with a small diamond in the
center.
When I was 16 he gave me another promise ring with a bigger diamond.
When I was 18, he gave me a diamond engagement ring.
I married him when I was 19. For our 40th Anniversary, I got a 2ct diamond anniversary band.
I have purchased a few diamond items on my own, but never received any diamonds from anyone else, but my husband.
I still wear my original diamond engagement ring and have for 54 years.

@timeless When I was 10, my favorite aunt who had no children gave me a tiny pair of daimond studs. My Mom kept them until I was 13 or 14 and felt I could take care of them.
Through my teen years, she started giving away her jewelry (to me) and she had beautiful pieces!!! I received a double string of pearls with a diamond "spray" clasp, her smaller first engagement ring, etc. When she passed away, I was already married and received all of her jewelry....too many pieces since I had inherited my Grandma's, too.
I had received my wedding and engagement rings that I do wear every day and a diamond necklace from my DH on our first anniversary. Any other diamond jewelry I wear is on special occasions.

My boyfriend brought me my first diamond studs, we were together a long time and planned to marry but it didn't work out.
I later brought smaller diamond stud earrings when I got my second ear piercing.

My engagement ring. First piece of platinum I ever got along with the diamond. I was hooked on that white metal. I was 20 with plenty of 18K gold but no diamond. or platinum.
