Good afternoon and happy Saturday to us all.
After reaching breaking warmth in these parts yesterday, it has turned decidedly wintry today, with strong winds to boot. The sun is shinning brightly so there's not too much to complain about.
It has been a tough week and the last two days have had their own problems for DS#1. Because of all the anesthesia and the additional pain killers needed to offset the surgery, DS began to get into GI trouble again. Fortunately, he noticed the symptoms right away and began to take very strong counter measures. Last night he seemed to get some relief and hopefully it continues. The almost 3 month hospital stint is nothing that we want to repeat - ever! Otherwise, he is progressing every so slowly, but is able to sleep more than eh thought. March madness will help distract him from his problems.
I had a blast with the grands yesterday, albeit even more exhausting that usual under the present circumstances. I went to their home around 8:15 yesterday morning and both were still asleep, which was great since both are fighting off nasty germs. We finally left their home around 10AM and headed for a local candy/nut/dried fruit place for they both wanted to go to the movies in the PM. I told them that they each could choose a bag of candy of their liking and take some to the movies with them. After about 10 minutes looking around, DGD turned to me and said that there were so many things that this was a hard choice!
Gotta love someone who loves candy, but is discriminating. After 15 minutes of so more, with items being taken down and them returned, they both made their choices and we headed home. Once home, while DGD played her latest Justin Beiber CD on the computer, I set up the Wii for DGS and I must admit I really didn't know what I was doing. Fortunately, it worked out okay and he began playing while Justin serenaded me while making a frittata that DS#1 would get later, eggs, toast, grilled cheese, hot chocolate and watching them gobble up grapes, we tried to figure out just exactly where we'd be headed to see the movie, GNOMEO & JULIET. In the time before the movie stuffed animal hospital was open for business and both grand helped DH & me set up avatars for Wii and they showed us how to play. Only the 3 of us went to the movies, DH had to go back to DS, and we were the only ones in this particular theater. It was kind of weird. I knew nothing about this movie, except that it was a take off of Shakespeare, but soon enough I noticed an abundance of Elton John tunes in the film. ( I learned later that E.J. was a producer of this film.) The grands were fully engrossed in the movies but I interjected about EJ and the songs. But the end of the film DGS was dancing along in the aisle with Crocodile Rock! On the way to their home they made me search & find a CD of EJ's greatest hit and play Crocodile Rock at least 6 times. By the middle of the third time they were singing along! Great day!
I am feeling a bit better since stopping the Vitamin D. I told DH that my body felt very similar to when I felt the full effects of chemo except that my knees and hips never hurt back then.
I hope to find time to try and catch up with the posts today. I hope. Off to the laundry after returning from DGD's championship b-ball game. It was the first game of the season that her team lost and it was a bitter pill for her to swallow.
Make it a great day!
