Is it just me or has everything become turquiose on the Q? All day goldrush the other day it seemed like half of the jewelry had turquiose. Don't get me wrong it's a pretty stone but come on there are other stones out there and I liked the days when the gold rush was just that GOLD! I know times have changed but come on QVC can't we have just a little less turquiose?

I actully noticed the turquoise a few weeks ago. It seemed it was on every other day. I know what you mean -- enough is enough. Oh, let's not forget that the Sleeping Beauty mine is closed. OMG! ha!

I think "over half" is an exaggeration. I noticed a matching ring and pendant. One bracelet and maybe a second ring, but that's hardly over half. They had many gemstones offered that day also.

Because it's the most beautiful stone in the world? Just MHO, of course.

Some possible answers:
QVC purchased a huge haul of "rare" sleeping beauty turquiose.
Turquiose has a higer profit margin compared to other gemstones
With the price of gold much higher than it used to be, they can't produce much gemstone jewelry at a price point most QVC customers will buy.
The questions about why QVC (or any other business) does something can always be answered by the need to drive sales and maximize profit. This is way businesses exist.

so they can use the scare tactics about the mine being closed...causes a panic that people will no longer to purchase....hence...sales go up....
frankly I tire of all the Turquoise and the "story" that always goes along with it....

Because it sells.
For all the wondering about why a company pushes the same products over and over, one big part of the answer has to be that it sells. Turquoise is probably an easy sell, sleeping beauty or not, because it fits into so very many jewelry styles. I know I own turqoise in many styles --and very few other blue or green/blue stones.
As for getting more "just gold" I wonder. I certainly won't be buying because I did that already --and if I hadn't, I wouldn't at today's prices; even though gold is nearly half what it was, it's still twice what it was when lots of QVC's offerings were classic gold.

I agree...........ALOT of turquiose AND byzantine gold....byzantine rings, necklaces, bracelets, etc.............where are the variety of links shown over the years??? They must have gotten some deal with a particular manufacterer to be pushing the ONE gold style so much.

QVC goes through phases with jewelry ..... not too long ago it was black spinel this and black spinel that .... and before that it was druzy. Now, it's turquoise and soon it will be something else. (Let's not even talk about the Bronzo fixation!)

Because there's a gigantic amount of cheap plastic available to 'stabilize' the turquoise?
