I got a clearance pendant yesterday. It came in a small baggie with anti tarnish square, inside another baggie with the item number on, inside yet another baggie indicating it was an obvious return (lots of numbers and bar codes and "RTN" which is the really big clue). All that was inside one of those ghastly white "fabric" bags, inside a crushed box.
The pendant got mixed reviews; I'm pretty sure someone returned it because it's very dainty indeed. I bet the original buyer never even tried it on. It's in perfect condition, it's not hairy or covered in lotion or any of those icky return issues. I'm happy to keep it (I like dainty).
But why do they make it so obvious that it's a return? Why send the new buyer the "RTN" baggie, when the two smaller baggies are perfectly serviceable? My pendant is fine, but psychologically of course I'd rather have something brand new that isn't someone else's reject. Why make it in-your-face obvious, when it's not necessary?
(Rhetorical question and rant
I don't expect anyone to be able to explain it.)
And I will never know if the post office crushed the box, or if that was how it was returned and no one cares to replace the box. The jiffy envelope wasn't damaged at all.
