My spouse has "fought" me on removing his wedding band which he's worn for 45 years.
Well, now it's too small and his finger is swelled. I tried the ribbon method but no way did this work.
Do all jewelers have the ability to cut ring or do I need a doctor? I am going to call a few jewelry stores but very few are in our area.
It must be removed.
Thank you!

I would definitely go with a jeweler if possible. I've done it myself on a friend using a jeweler's saw. I also know a woman who went to the fire department who did it for her but they damaged the ring.
A jeweler can do a cleaner neater job and solder it back together or size it up if you want to spend the money to do it.

From the Internet:
Firefighters can cut off a ring that is stuck on your finger. They have special tools that can cut a stuck ring without causing harm to the person wearing it. The procedure only takes 10–20 minutes, and calling the fire department is the best bet if the removal methods you try are ineffective.

Jewelers cut off rings...do a Goggle search to find one that offers the service in your area. Good Luck @homedecor1.

Good Luck. Hope you find someone who will do a good job.
My Mom was in the hospital. And "they" decided to cut her wedding ring off. "They" broke the platinum ring into 3 pieces and two of the diamonds were loose.
Still not sure why "they" found a need to cut the ring off her finger. She was 92 pounds.

@drizzellla This is puzzling....seems they would have asked before hand especially if not a life threatening situation. Sounds like a botched job.![]()

I can't help but wonder if someone liked the ring and wanted it.
At the time Mom was living in a nursing home. The nursing home sent her to the hospital. And I am not sure what happened but I did not get the message. I did not know she was sent to the hospital until I visited the nursing home after work. Too late to drive to the hospital during visiting hours. And I worked the next day so I did not see her until she was in the hospital 2 days.
Wonder if someone thought my Mom did not have family in the area. And someone took it upon themselves to cut it off. Thinking no one would notice. Since they cut the ring by the diamonds not the back where it was just a plain platinum band.
Another puzzling thing was that I had to pick up the ring at the Administrator of the Hospital's office. You would think a lower rank of employee would handle returning a mangled ring.
PS - I just thought of something. I was not told about the ring until 2 days after Mom was released from the hospital. And my Mom stayed in the hospital about 5 days.
I was thinking only about my Mom and her health issues that I was not thinking about the ring. I saw it in three pieces and just put it away.

@homedecor1 Call your local fire station and see if they can help. My dad died at 93, having never removed his.
