What happened to simple styles

I have been searching for simple sterling bracelets and necklaces, remember all the different links QVC use to sell - herringbone, byzantine, curb, mariners, wheat etc? There were no designer names attached to them. Everything I see now is big, bulky, chunky and sometimes bizarre looking. It seems that everything is so "Designer" driven and expensive. So many QVC shoppers I talk to say the same thing, the simple styles are gone. Not everyone can or wants to wear big bold jewelry and at such high designer prices.
