I had the privilege of seeing her concert at Wolf Trap in Virginia about 30 years ago. I always, when she appeared on Carson etc., thought she was funny. The concert was sold out. My husband and I were laughing so hard throughout her concert, I am sure, I missed half of her jokes. So were all of the other people. She is a very talented comedian! I hope she comes back good as new.

My story about Joan: I always knew she was funny, and when I was supposed to be doing homework, I would watch her on Carson. I never saw her entire show on QVC. However, years ago I met someone at a social event who used to be a vendor on QVC. At that time I had only been watching a few months. This person told me that one of the nicest people at QVC is Joan Rivers. I learned she would go out of her way to make new people comfortable, and in spite of her right to act like a diva, she was anything but. This person told me she was always upbeat and was really interested in you when she talked to you. I wish now that I'd watched one of her shows, and I hope I get to in the future.
I am thinking of her family and close friends, and the QVC staff, hosts, other vendors, and models who know her so well.
I'm so sorry for your losses, Beachy. And thank you for this lovely post about Joan - I've always imagined her as being a very nice person.
Continued prayers for Joan and the family.

"I love Joan and Melissa. I am praying for them. My mother was on life support for seven months. They were telling us we had a fifteen percent chance that she would pull through. My mother is alive and well. It has been almost ten years. There is always hope! Melissa and Cooper stay strong!"
I don't see what rush there would be for Melissa to make an immediate decision, especially considering that money is not an obstacle to medical care. They don't have to get approval from an insurer in order to continue to get care. Granted, Joan is 81 and that's a factor. However, doctors and scientists don't understand the mysteries of the brain enough to be right all the time about a patient's prognosis.
Happy to help. And, I think you're exactly right. Doctors can't always predict outcomes. Where there's life, there's hope, and Joan Rivers is a fighter. Melissa could continue a "wait-and-see" approach for as long as necessary to give Joan a fighting chance before making that life and death decision.
Hoping for a good outcome.

No special incident that I can recall. However, I deeply admire her. I raised four daughters and I see her as a role model for strong, vibrant women. Life can be tough and I see her meeting challenges head on with dignity and strength. I pray for her speedy and full recovery.

A few of us waited at the back door for her to come out to her car. We did wait a good 20 minutes or so while she was having pics taken with some people inside. Just before she came out, she had a tray of all kinds of sweets brought out to us because she knew we were waiting for her. When she came out she couldn't have been more kind. She wanted to take time with each of us, whether we wanted an autograph, a photo or what. I was Very Impressed with her. I sat in the front row during the show and at the end I was one of the lucky ones to receive a plant from Joan, so I had my pic taken with Joan and the plant she gave me. I am So Glad I got a chance to meet her. What a truly gracious woman. I attempted afterwards to send Melissa a note on how kind her mother was, but the e mail address I had was no good. I'm praying she gets well.
What a wonderful story...I am praying for her. My prayers for Melissa as well.

One man's "-", is another man's treasure. Her Faberge egg charms and bee pins, etc. are treasures.
And in her 70s she was the winner of Celebrity Apprentice. Wow!

I did forget to mention the Joan and Kathi shows! Oh, my those 2 were wild together! They were fabulous on those shows! They seemed to really hit it off. I imagine they had so much fun together -- because it was certainly fun to watch!

They never fail to garner compliments. I think fondly of her for her humor, compassion, philanthropy, AND jewelry design.

I enjoyed watching Joan sell her jewelry. It was clear someone took the dial and toned her down quite a bit. I liked her when she was selling her products and would tune in. However, her "comedy" was far to raunchy and mean for me. Any like I had for her was gone when she bad-mouthed Jackie Kennedy for marrying Aristotle Onassis. A woman protecting her children is NEVER anything to make fun of; in fact it was quite classless of Joan. Couching it behind the veil of "comedy" is an unacceptable response.
I do, however, wish Joan the best and a speedy recovery. I do have to say, I chuckled when she was bashing Bjork for that dumb swan dress and Gaga for her equally stupid meat dress. She and Melissa were on some sort of fashion countdown I watched years ago.
