Sammycat - I read your explanation about the difference between ruby & red sapphire that you posted several days ago. Today I received the red sapphire heart (gorgeous, by the way!) & when I first looked at it, it appeared an intense fire engine red. Then I held the old ruby pave heart enhancer (the one that came w/ the onyx cabochon pin) next to the red sapphire heart. The pave ruby heart was an intense deep pinkish red & the red sapphire looked like the deepest red orange color I have ever seen (sort of like the sky when there is a red sunset). The difference between them was astounding. Your explanation was right on the money. I really appreciate that there is someone on the Ripka forum w/ your knowledge to help us all out. SO THANKS A BIG BUNCH!!! Now...can you tell me the difference between quartz & quartzite? Sometimes it seems as though QVC uses those terms interchangeably, but I bet there is a difference. Nobody has ever been able to explain the difference to me.
