Update: I returned by Or Paz earrings today

If I used QVC's label to return 1 pair of Or Paz earrings, QVC was going to charge me $8.95. Instead, I typed my own label and took it to the post office. Cost of return was $2.07; $78 insurance was $2.45. Total $4.52. I returned it in the same envelope it was shipped in.

Good for you. I wouldn't have insured it unless they specifically asked you to. Back in 2004 I returned a lot of QVC jewelry in the method you described. It wasn't until people started clamoring for a prepaid label like HSN that they started providing it. What they failed to tell the customer was the cost of that prepaid label.

I do not want to go to the PO. It is worth my time to pay extra and use a label-- pop it in the mail. The PO has long lines. Forget that! Plus the gas to drive to PO....no way!

My post office is 5 minutes from my house --- and the lines are never long.

The only thing about it is that if it is lost and you did the label following up with getting your money back is on you. If it is lost and you used their label it is on them. They give it 2 weeks and give you a refund. I have had several packages disappear. The last place they were tracked was my local PO. (I drop them off at UPS where they are scanned in). I think someone in my local PO steals packages. Anyway I have been using QVC labels and easily got a couple refunds. If it's something expensive you may consider using theirs.

I love Or Paz. Sorry they didn't work out for you.

I have sent items back 1st Class with labels I print on Paypal. In some cases the Q return label makes sense, but there's no reason to pay $6.95 to return something as small and light as earrings, IMO.

But don't they just deduct that charge from your return credit? So you have to be sure and check? Me, I'm a lousy bookkeeper, its just easier to use the label and forget about it.
