You should post some of your pretties Haca!!! From what I saw of your amber loot, woman they deserve to be shown off! I think we all have the "sickness." {#emotions_dlg.rolleyes} And man is it difficult to balance our CP/AW and our other interests or what? You've got to throw a few bucks in every direction! It's an art in and of itself. lol

Yes Kachina, I've been collecting these NA pieces for a few years now, but I'm mostly interested in LaRose's work. Her smithing is so clean and precise, and she only uses the best stones. Wait until you see your new ring. You'll be hooked. Worth every penny and ebay has some amazing deals. If you were to buy her rings in a gallery, they'd be hundreds more. Congrats again! P.S. I have dealt with LaRose directly a couple of times... the coral squash blossom was a custom order because I loved the turq so much. She is a fantastic lady. I feel proud and honored to wear her pieces.

I'm so jealous that you live in such close proximity to these mines! Wow, I can't imagine being able to go and "mine" my own stones. What a treat that must be!

Well the pieces are BOLD but I wear them everywhere and anywhere! My theory is that you can pretty much wear any piece (within reason of course) as long as you keep your clothing simple and your other jewels to a minimum. I wore the turq squash blossom on its maiden voyage to a jazz club with a little black wrap dress. And it worked, surprisingly! I've worn the coral one over a white tank with a cropped/fitted jean jacket and black pants. I think the longer length (I believe around 24") helps them look a BIT more casual. It's all in the attitude! haa haa

Here's another Ganadonegro pendant. It's sleeping beauty and kingman. The color of the stones is incredible... could be better matrix in the kingman though. Are you familiar with Albert Jake? He was kind enough to have me send it to him to fashion a larger bail (LaRose is not around). I want it to fit over some of my larger multi-strand necklaces. I hope to have it back soon! It's been a few weeks now that I think of it... hmm

Ladies, I am giving it a rest for right now. More to come tomorrow. If anyone else knows how to transfer posts from another thread, you are welcome. Many of these photos were part of the ...Sleeping Beauty Mine closed....discussion. We thought all of these beautiful pieces shared by turquoise lovers would add greatly to the discussion.

Here's a new threesome I want you to see. The ring on the thumb is Bisbee. If you use your imagination, you can see the slight lavender tint. It's much more apparent in person. The ring is big and chunky and short on design elements. Most of my turquoise is old Indian jewelry.

The middle ring is Cerrillos, or is supposed to be. This is the largest ring I own, like a saucer. Cerrillos is just a few miles South of Santa Fe and this mine may be the oldest in the US. The locals traded it in ancient times and it's been found as far South as Central America. It was owned at one time by Louis Comfort Tiffany who helped popularize turquoise. There was a series of mines in the Cerrillos Hills, some are on private land and others are now a state park. All of them are closed. You rarely see this turquoise which is why I wonder if my ring is actually from that mine. It's the right color.

The last ring is probably Chinese. I included it because I wanted you to see what a coin edge looks like. It used to be more popular than it is now. I bought it at a shop in Old Town, Albuquerque where an Indian silversmith sits and makes their jewelry and can size it on the spot.

Enjoy.

Even Michael Dawkins is blossoming out with Sleeping Beauty. Seems like the more scarce it becomes, the more we see. I wonder if he has memorized his "the mine is closed" speech?
