The new Blue watch

I received this watch this week and I love it. I was not going to order it, but caved at the last minute and I'm glad I did. I was worried it would be too blingy, but it's much more subtle. Earlier this year I needed something cheerier, so I got one of the more subtle Heidi Daus watches (an easier price point), and it was OK. But when Judith was presenting her watch, I noticed that parts of Heidi's watch were plastic and some dust was accumulating under the case. Ugh! You get what you pay for.

When I heard Jill say Judith's watch was cobalt, that pushed me over the edge, since I love cobalt. The band is quality leather - nice and soft, with sophisticated shading that looks like sodalite. The blue DMQ looks like sapphires in two shades - a deeper blue and a medium Montana blue. In some light, the softer one is reminiscent of tanzanite. The blue MOP face can look like enameling, but in the light, it glows with hints of purples, blues, and greens - almost peacock. It is mid-size, which is perfect for me since I don't like really big watches. The pave is well done and smooth. Of course, the engraving on the stainless is beautiful Ripka. It has a thinner profile, which I also like. The subtle hearts are cheery. As Judith said, this is intended to be a fun watch. It will work for day to night, except for black tie.

I had a hard time deciding on a color, and could see any of them being gorgeous. I went from completely uninterested to - I want the blue, then the brown (so warm), the green (so vivid but not too bright), the black (so classic and tasteful), and maybe the purple. This watch did not translate well on the screen.

I don't anticipate getting more than one, but I could see why you'd want more colors in your collection if it fits in your budget. I haven't seen anything else like this on the market. So happy I got this one! For everyone else who has it - Enjoy!

It sounds lovely! Any chance of a pic??? I was considering this, but I don't know if it is the right shade of blue. Enjoy!!!

I know I'm out of the loop, but I can't do pics.

When Jill said the band was navy, I'd say it was navy friendly. It has shades of navy, just like sodalite. The face is definitely a cobalt/peacock, and the MOP shimmers.

As a reference, the Heidi watch was her "Tastefully yours" watch in the bluish shade. I wasn't overjoyed with it when it arrived, but it fit my needs at the time and I had a coupon. I only have a few of her pieces. Now it feels like a throw away piece to me, which bothers me. I expect to wear the JR watch for years. I have lots of JR - mostly from before - and I have been wearing them again after a hiatus. My JR looks pretty much like it did the day I got it.

So glad to read that you're pleased with your new blue watch, mskringle. Enjoy in happiness and health. I agree wholeheartedly that it's much more beautiful in person than in photos or on-air.

I received mine in the black and I'm very pleased, as well. Ordered the brown, too...but it appears to be sitting at the Q awaiting pick-up by UPS. I'd upgraded to 2nd day for both so I'm anxious to see how this plays out.

Dallas-Dame - Thank you. I thought the black watch was awesome too. That will go with everything! I was so tempted to get it., but my ceramic watch is all black and some of my other watches too, so I decided to go for a color. I also liked that some of the DMQ on the brown watch looked like citrine. Enjoy your new watches. I hope the brown arrives soon.

Funny - but when I first saw the photos, I thought "Oh good, I'll be able to pass this one up easily." Ha!

I wear watches all of the time, so it will be nice to look down and see something cheery, fun and elegant.

Thank you for this review. I ordered the blue but it hasn't arrived. I went back and forth...ordered-cancelled-reordered!! Glad to hear it is better in person and has a slim profile. I thought it might be too blingy for me, but decided I needed to gt it home to decide in person. After your review I am more excited and nor as worried I made a mistake. equss - Glad to allay your fears. It sounds like you went through the same indecision I went through. I also decided I had to get it home to see for myself. If I ever got another one of these, I might go for the black. And I can't believe that getting a second one is now crossing my mind. LOL.

Thanks Mskringle...I was torn between the blue and black as I suspect the black is classic and very believable. I really like black spinel watches and suspect DMQ will be great. If you are thinking of a second that says so much.

PS I noticed this morning the blue went to wait list. I've also learned to order early or risk getting a return(often flawed in my experience). If you decide on black ask cs to honor the tsv price as they have done it for me on occasion(saving a little money never hurts!)

Wow! I love your review! You describe your new Monaco so well....I too thought the blue watch looked like sapphires, but I was a little reluctant in ordering the watch. Like you said it didn't come off that well on t.v.! Your review is making me want to get one now!
