Re: The Representative for the Elizabeth Taylor Jewelry Collection

I forgot to watch. Did I miss anything? Did anything sell out? Glad at least some of it is going to her charity......

I liked him. He did seem a little nervous which is totally understandable.

Re: The Representative for the Elizabeth Taylor Jewelry Collection

It was the first outing... it was rocky and a bit boring and it was Lisa's last day... I think it might be nice to give everyone involved a little break and, if they bring this line back again, see how it evolves... Most of the jewelry wouldn't work for me and my style of living and I thought most of it was a bit pricey, but it might well develop over time into something interesting... At least it's not another computer, blender or coffee pot.

Why so critical? He will become more comfortable. He actually was a part of ETs life. He deserves more than complaints from the many of you. Ask yourself what kind of presence you would have in that setting the first few times out.

Why did I get the distinct feeling that he never thought he would be pushing costume jewelry on a home shopping network and that is the real reason why he was so uncomfortable presenting it?

"Complaints?" Good grief. I just noticed he seemed a bit awkward on air, and that Lisa smoothed things over very nicely. Presenting items on shopping TV doesn't come naturally to everyone.

Re: The Representative for the Elizabeth Taylor Jewelry Collection

Unless any of you have been on live tv, you can only imagine how nerve whacking it is. It is another dimension. The lights are not forgiving, and there are clapboards and cameras at every angle. Not so many camera angles at QVC, because of small stage, but enough. That ear piece thing is awful to work with, it can delay words, you can have people talking to you as you are speaking. The camera bothers me the most. It is huge, and you see your big face everywhere, yikes. Every sound from you can be heard, and you need to be posed right, especially when sitting for unflattering poses, if you get my drift. You can hear your voice sometimes echoing, and repeating, and it can be distracting. Live tv makes you look so different. Worst of all any guffaw cannot be retracted, unless it is an expletive, and they catch it in 10 seconds. LOL. I give all these hosts and vendors a high five for getting on stage! Even a seasoned person gets nervous. JMHO

I had to do live tv two times on pbs and a local channel, never again. I can speak pretty well to a small group, but put me in front of a camera and I don't know my name or what year it is. LOL!

Being on air is hard for someone who hasn't done it before. Even the best vendors and shows hosts get better over time, their first times weren't always that great.

I agree. But you know these boards are pretty cut throat. No one gets a break. LOL
