Most tanzanite in deep color gets heated. Unheated tanzanites are very light in color.

I have deep colored iolite, and I can say, it is a very different color, it is a precision cut stone, the cut is excellent, done by master cutter.  It is still iolite, and I would not confuse it for tanzanite or sapphire.

Gem sellers recommend getting tanzanite if you live in a place with little sun, aka Seattle, or North locations.

Even QVC occasionally offer exception tanzanite. pure tanzanite and affinity have many items with deep colored tanzanite.

Instead of getting several inexpensive things it is better to split it into easy payment, and get your desired item.

If you get gemshopping they have entire shows of what tanzanite ie supposed to look like. It is nothing like what HSN is selling, of course there is a great price difference. I would rather spend my money on something else than a poor quality gem.

Exactly.  Gem Shopping has them all.  From cheap groups of tanzanite (light stuff) to dark ones.  Some in the 6 figures. Your middle America stones are actually cheaper then QVC.  Almost all color gems on Gem Shopping will have diamond surrounding any gem. And always from 14K up. Little to no silver but plenty of platinum too for white color.So even if your color is not hat great, you still have natural diamonds and gold. Color gems and color diamonds are all about color.

In 1968 Tiffany introduced the first Tanzanite jewelry to market. I did some reading about that promotion and found this ring which was part of their campaign to promote it's new find. The stone hardly has any real color and it's a cab.

@NYCLatinaMe

Yes, I have shopped from the LC for many years. They are reliable and their CS is good. Sometimes their shipping times are a bit long but that's about it.

@NYCLatinaMe

Just recently I bought this Tanzanite faceted bead necklace from ShopLC.  I wanted something casual to wear with jeans and this one fit the bill. It's AAA, 60 carats and 18-20-in long w/ a sterling clasp. Sold out now but it's very nice. Color is really good.

Cabochon makes it cheap.  Even cheaper, no diamonds. That probably was not a lot of money at the the time.  I'm not that crazy over color gems, but I would never buy a cab. It would have to be fully cut and with diamonds. This color is flat, cabs do that.  They dull the color.  Some gems are stuck as cabs.

Tanazanite are heated, they are going to loose color over time.

I love cabs. There are some exceptional cuts in cabs, including some very desirable Tiffany designs.

Fully cut stone needs to be cut by exceptional cutter, or it is no different from any of ebay versions.

Diamonds are mostly minuscule, it just create more bling and raise the price. It is not always neceassry to do.
