Susan Graver multi-strand Bead Necklace

I just received J159347 (SG multi-strand seed bead necklace). I really like it except that it has a really funky smell. I am not sure I can wear it. Has anyone else noticed this? I thought I would let it set out a couple of days with the lid of the box open to see if the smell gets better. I also thought about washing it, but was afraid it might harm it. Any suggestions?
