I have to laugh...for the last few years... no matter which channel I watch....they all say how "rare" and limited this turquoise is.  And yet it is still around...by the hundreds of pieces!  Guess they miscalculated the supply!!  One way to keep the price up I guess...

@bargainsgirl  This has to be the biggest myth and ripoff in all of jewelry-dom. Of all the SB you are seeing, I can order 100 times more. Rare, my a*s. What a way to drive up the price!! OK so they closed the mines, but not before taking out every morsel of Sleepy Beauty that existed. Many investors hoarded the raw materials for top prices only releasing small amounts at a time which made the cost higher.

IMO, I never liked it and don’t use it in my jewelry unless special order & requested. Other colors of turquoise are so much more interesting with matrix or earning toward a green color. Each stone has a personality and individuality not seen in any other. Sleeping Beauty, while folks like the clear blue color, looks like plastic to me. In fact, when I see it set or as a loose stone, I have to feel it to see if it’s cool (real). Plastic is room temp. This color stone is almost always used as the standard for costume jewelry (Joan Rivers, KJL, etc.).

@bargainsgirl  I chuckled about this all weekend w/all I had seen on all 3 channels - they were all selling it by the droves. Not convinced it's all that rare.

You ,guys, can laugh as much as you want...... Everybody has their taste and standards.... But... all the highest jewelry houses in the world like Cartier, Bulgary., Van Cliff and smaller like Tiffany, Tamara Comolli, David Yurman and others use only pure blue Persian or Sleeping Beauty in their precious, diamond encrusted pieces.

Royal crowns also contain only pure stones. .

Yes, there are dishonest dealers out there, but it is another story.....

@SANNA  That necklace is out of sight expensive. You wouldn’t expect her to wear plastic.

Of course, it is expected on her level. It was SBT,Aqua and diamonds by Tiffany.

What I mean is that historically the international standards of value and beauty of turquoise is this clear blue. I haven’t seen a veiny turquoise until I immigrated to the US.I mean I have seen it in the gemological books....

@SANNA  Not arguing. I’ve been working w/ Chinese turquoise, stones w/ matrix of golden shades and those stones that lean more towards green.
