On am style there were three little stretch rings on and the s&h was $5.50! Outrageous!

Takes effort to ship small items too. Ask around and find someone who has worked in shipping/warehousing. Hard work.

Most companies will give you free shipping and handling if you are spending at least $35. I shop at Amazon, Macys, Target, Walmart, Walgreen and many more. They all give free shipping at $35. I recently bought 4 tops at QVC. That shipping and handling was $ 14.00! The only reason I bought them was for the 20% off otherwise I never would have paid that much in S/H!

USPS is adding an 8% surcharge on most shipping options effective April 26th to combat the high cost of gas.
Even though companies like Q have contracts with USPS for much lower costs than we pay, I can only imagine what it will be after the surcharge hits.
If you read some of Q's quarterly reports in the last few years, shipping is one of very few profit makers.
I price check everything. It's rare that Q beats another retailer's price. Plus all retailers I shop with offer free shipping, usually by UPS instead of USPS.

It's only going to get worse when the gas charge takes place.

What about the cost of insurance to send jewelry as opposed to a piece of clothing. Maybe that is why there is a $5.50 charge. I am only guessing

To be honest, shipping charges do not prevent me from purchasing something. To put it in perspective, an item leaves a warehouse, travels hundreds of miles, and is delivered to my front door. To pay $5-$10 for this convenience is worth it to me.

I know what you are saying, I am trying to purchase a ring and they want over nine dollars for regular shipping!

The news last night reported we should expect transportation sur charges by most retailers including Amazon.

In addition to the actual contracted cost and insurance with UPS or USPS that QVC is paying to ship, there are employee costs, including overhead, PTO, insurance, benefits, etc. If the ring costs $10 or costs $1000, QVC's cost is the same to package and pay for employees, so that cost really isn't that much - insurance for a pricey item may increase that cost, but the employee rates are the same.
My issue with shipping fees, is that if I purchase multiples of one item, you should get a small break if combining shipping as long as they are packaged together in one bag or box, and the weight is minimal.
