Roman Glass

I have a question about the Roman glass with the patina. Is it artificial and put on over the plain glass? Or is it a distinctively different type of Roman glass? I bought the Adi Paz Roman glass gold pendant, and it is quite beautiful, but I was wondering about the patina, if it is genuine. And if it is applied by hand, will it come off eventually. Any knowledgeable replies would be appreciated.
